Lucy Nolan is an award-winning harpist who has performed all around the world at prestigious venues such as the Royal Opera House, The Sage and The Bridgewater Hall. As well as being a rewowned performer for solo recitals, orchestral performances, weddings and events, she is also an accomplished teacher and arranger.
We worked together to create a brand identity and website which reflected Lucy’s love for her instrument, and her passion for modern composers and performance techniques.
A love of doing things differently to the norm is a trait we both had in common, and we collaborated to elevate Lucy’s brand and offering to new heights, and take the harp to new places.
Look and feel
With a theme of ‘taking harp to new places’, we explored the idea of taking the harp to places where you might not expect to find one. Fields, woodlands, bus stops, roads, against the clouds… it was quite a mission!
I was conscious to choose locations which were in line with the look and feel of Lucy’s brand. Bringing out the bluer tones in the images during the editing process brought some of the greens closer to Lucy’s teal brand colour, and helped the photos to balance with the rest of the website.
Lucy’s diversified offering came with a unique challenge of how to present information to a wide range of potential clients. From orchestral directors, to brides-to-be, to TV casting directors, to possible collaborators, Lucy’s website needed to be an enjoyable and informative experience for all potential audiences.
We mapped out a clear user flow and content journey for each type of client, and ensured a delightful experience with easy to understand navigation, compelling copy, and clear calls to action… all in line with Lucy’s distinctive, light and airy brand identity.
With the majority of traffic likely to be on mobile devices, I followed a mobile-first approach, and ensured an optimal viewing experience across all devices.
We considered and mapped out the user journey at the beginning of the process to ensure a clear experience no matter what the user is looking for.
A particular highlight is the diary functionality which showcases Lucy’s upcoming performances and events, as well as linking to directions to the venue on Google Maps, providing ticket booking links, as well as dynamically showing the next upcoming performance for each ensemble that Lucy performs in.
Lucy now has a beautiful and engaging brand identity and online presence which elevates her unique offering, and delights and draws in her ideal clients.
The eye catching photographs and brand identity have proven to be the ultimate differentiator, and played a key part in Lucy being cast in ITV’s brand new series of Victoria and Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.
An increase in enquiries, demand and brand awareness meant that Lucy achieved a return on her investment within days of launching, and was delighted with the commercial results for her business.
